The Loneliness

You know exactly what your clients need. You have no idea what you need.

73%

of fitness pros report professional isolation

1 in 3

consider leaving the industry within 5 years

You spend your days holding space for other people's struggles — the client who hasn't slept in weeks, the one going through a divorce, the one who cries in the car after every session. You absorb it all, and then you drive home alone.

The business questions pile up with nowhere to go. Do I raise my rates? Should I go online? How do I handle a client who's manipulating my schedule? You Google it. You get a listicle. You close the tab.

The fitness industry is full of people who are exceptionally good at taking care of others and quietly terrible at asking for help themselves. Not because they don't want it. Because there's nowhere to ask.

The Founding Belief

Fitness professionals deserve the same peer support they give everyone else.

Strength coach reviewing program notes on whiteboard in empty studio at dusk
01

Peer support isn't a luxury.

Every other skilled profession — medicine, law, therapy — has structured peer consultation built in. Fitness professionals are left to figure it out in group chats that go quiet after two replies.

02

The grind deserves honesty.

Hearth was built on the belief that you should be able to say "I'm exhausted and I almost quit today" without someone selling you a mastermind program in response.

03

Knowledge should circulate freely.

A programming template that took you three years to build shouldn't die in a Google Drive folder. Share it. Someone two years behind you needs it today.

I've been charging $65/hr for four years. Just found out the trainer at the gym down the street charges $120. I'm scared to raise my rates but I also can't pay rent. How did any of you actually do this?

I raised $30 overnight and lost two clients. Kept 11. Made more money that month than any before it. The ones who left were the ones draining me anyway.

I sent a "rate update" email, gave 30 days notice, and framed it as investing in the quality of their coaching. Lost nobody. The key is confidence in the message.

I taught six classes today. Smiled through all of them. Got home and sat in my car for 40 minutes because I couldn't face going inside. Is this just what this job is?

Not just this job. But this job makes it worse because you're not allowed to have bad days in front of clients. I sat in my car for an hour last Tuesday. You're not alone.

This thread is why I stay in Hearth. The outside world wants us to be unbreakable. In here we can just be people.

Dropping my 16-week hypertrophy template in here. Took me 3 years to build. It's yours. Adapt it, break it, make it better. Just put it to use.

Used this with my intermediate clients for 6 weeks. Average strength gain was 12%. Sending you a virtual coffee.

This is the most generous thing I've seen shared in a fitness community. No upsell, no course attached. Just a person helping people. This is what Hearth is for.
